I really can’t bring myself  to say anything good about this place. If I wrote that the house was terrible, Torrington horrible and there’s nothing at all to do, would it warn people off?

Inside it’s a bit of an eclectic mix of decoration and furnishing but very comfortable.  The kitchen is excellent with a large table and seating area that makes it a good communal space.  The gas-effect fires are a little naff and it’s a pity that the open fire is not in the main sitting room or dining room.

During our stay the pavement directly outside the front door (and therefore front bedrooms) was being replaced.  It was noisy and untidy and at one point a pipe was severed - apparently with no effect. The positive outcome of this was that we rose relatively early. (Is that positive?).

Amenities on the doorstep; a good selection of shops, several pubs and a one or two interesting places to visit. The museum next door was quite fun and the glassworks interesting but we particularly enjoyed watching the comings and goings of the old folk across the road as they dropped in for a good sit down while out shopping.

From first to last and despite a few hitches, this turned out to be one of everyone’s top ranking properties.  The house is great in every respect, Torrington is a good little market town and Devon has always been a favourite place; we loved it - please stay away!
