Not the most promising approach - down some back street in an estate, but this leads to a very nicely situated building, giving an entirely unpicturesque aerial view of the town.
The large enclosed garden is very handy to let dogs ( and I suppose little kids) have a run without going out into the public bit.
The place is easily big enough for seven people to survive in without invading each other’s personal space, but feels quite intimate too with everything going on in the same big room. The stove looks a bit weedy but pumps out plenty of heat with a roaring draw up the chimney – we had freezing temperatures and snow but were warm as toast in the hall.
Plenty to do around the area both inland and on the coast. The town is a fair size with everything you’d expect plus an amazing Aladdin’s cave of a department store. ‘Tottyscopes’ at the ready fellas; at night the ladies dress for action and look like they take no prisoners.
There’s the classic Northumbria “castles and coast” to explore and a few things to do in Morpeth itself; we unexpectedly wandered into the World Championship for the Northumbrian Pipes in the Chantry.
Follow the path into town and the first pub you come to is the best. A large collection of stuffed animals greets you in the bar, but so far I don’t think they’ve managed to bag a Landmarker.
