Shropshire is definitely a favourite county. There’s decent hills, decent towns and villages and some decent Landmarks.  Langley Gatehouse had always been on the ‘to do’ list so when the chance to fit in a weekend came up there wasn’t much time wasted in making the decision.

I think it’s fair to say that the house is smaller than it appears and the living space was quite cramped when everyone was in. The main bathroom, however, is big and very grand in the context of the rest of the building.

The upper bedrooms possess a lot of low beams and the nocturnal pee should be undertaken with care.  An en suite bathroom in to the twin room was a bonus.

The gatehouse is a little off the beaten track but pretty close to Church Stretton, an interesting town with a range of shops and pubs. A great little find was “The Wine Vaults” where after a cold and wet walk around and eventually up Caer Carradoc they provided chips, toasties and beer at very reasonable prices.

Although there is plenty of bedroom space the size of the sitting room would suggest a party of four is more appropriate for this property, particularly if you have a great lump of a dog with you.
