Scorching late Summer weather and a dozen bottles of Cava made for a great couple of days with friends. Over-the-hill trundlers wobbled in to bowl slow, tennis ball bouncers from the “Princess Anne End”, while be-hatted ladies uncorked the mid-session drinks - an idyllic English scene.
The cobbling together of the three former cottages is well concealed from the outside and for the most part inside. The exception is the sitting room which is a bit awkwardly shaped with a couple of blind spots - these could, I suppose, prove useful in certain circumstances.
As attractive as the house is, for me the real joy of this property is the massive garden. There’s some good planting and an interesting selection of fruit and other trees, set in a great swathe of flat lawn. Absolutely ideal for sports and games but with plenty of places to relax quietly in the shade or top up the tan in a secluded sun-trap.
We did think of trying the local pub for Sunday lunch (there were good comments in the Log Book) but the superb weather made a picnic much more appealing. Personally, I never left the grounds for the entire stay and can offer no advice at all on things to do, places to go or people to see.
