The Bath Tower was a real surprise.  Much bigger than expected and pretty spooky (the lower you go the spookier it gets!). The double room at the top is, however, not spooky at all, in fact it’s lovely, with access to a rooftop terrace which overlooks the sea.

Quite bad weather at times but the tower is very cosy  even with only two.  It’s a pity there’s no real views of the sea from the seaward wall but I suppose that was not exactly top of the list when when the defenses were being built!

Pubs in town look like they‘re designed as weekend cattle-markets but there were some less voluminous places in the streets around the castle (esp. The Black Boy).  Plenty of shops on hand. Ate lots of takeaways (particularly after minor fire in kitchen while cooking dinner on first night) but wouldn’t really recommend any off those we tried.

Parking OK in winter but could be difficult in summer – use the small harbour-side car park and the bottom door of the Tower. Coke for the stove available at Tesco garage.  Using the bottom door on the sea wall necessitates a significant haul up a couple of floors.

Caernarfon Castle a must, as is Portmerion for “Prisoner” fans and non-fans alike, easy access to the mountains of Snowdonia and some excellent beaches.

Recently visited Caernarfon again and felt as though another stay in the Bath Tower might be in order.
